a size 4 ring has approx. 47mm circumference. The width of the letters depend on the font used. If it is in italic for example, the writing will take up more space. I would guess that each character takes up about 2mm at the most which would give you 23 letters, including spaces. Your best bet would be to go to a jeweler and ask them.
