Do cushion cut diamonds look smaller than they actually are?
I'm researching engagement rings and I've read in a few different places that cushion cut diamonds come across smaller than their actual carat size. For example, I've found articles saying a 1 ct. round looks bigger than a 1 ct. cushion because of the depth and the way the stone is cut. Is there any truth to this? I'm looking at a 2 ct. cushion but may go up to 3 ct. if the 2 ct. is only going to look like a 1.5 ct, so in turn I'd expect a 3 ct. cushion to look like a 2.5 ct or so and I'd rather have it bigger obviously. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!
